An Encumbrance Certificate, also known as an EC, is a vital document that proves the owner/freedom of title to a property. This document is required when purchasing or selling property or applying for a loan against property. It is used to verify that the property is free from economic or legal liabilities.

An Encumbrance Certificate of a property can be obtained for a period of up to 30 years.
