Our first ever rolling out hitched to the gig. I'll walk with her for a few more sessions and then put on the reins when I have a savvy friend who will stay on the ground near her to maintain her confidence. Horses gain a lot of confidence when we walk with them first in a new situation. They can see us and read our body language. They will mirror our relaxation (or lack of it!).
You can see a couple of times she gets a bit anxious. We did a few walk-halt-walk transitions. She halts on hearing the click. And she halts on body energy and verbal cue as well, then gets a click/treat after the halt. I used both these interchangeably according to what felt best at the time to reassure her that she was doing well.
The next two days we put a person up in the gig as well and she was fine with that.
