Sakela dance is very popular in Kirati community and performed harmoniously in some festival like Udhauli and Ubhauli. The festival falls in the month of November or December and the 8th month of lunar calendar. The ethnic groups like Rai, Limbu, Sunuwar, Yakkha etc celebrate this festival inviting their family members and organizing some feast. The easter part of Nepal like Dharan, Dhankutta, Illam, Panchthar etc are densely populated by these groups and they have their own culture and tradition. They perform sakela dance in rhythmic beat produced by the traditional musical instruments like Dhol(big drums) and Jhyamta(cymbals). On the occasion of this festival, the young generation also dress up in traditional dresses and make up with traditional jewelry. Kirati people go to the temples from early day today.
