Freestyle the world (virtually) with a FPV quadcopter (acrobatic/racing/freestyle drone) with the new GlobeXplore FPV Simulator and the 2D/3D data of Google Earth/Maps.

____ MY PC USED IN THIS VIDEO ____
* 500 MBit/s indirect-fiber internet connection (fiber in house but not in modem)
* Intel i5-7600K, OC @ 4.8 GHz
* Msi GTX 1080 ti Gaming X Trio (11GB VRAM), OC @ 2000 MHz
* Corsair Vengence 16 GB DDR4, OC @ 3600 MHz
* Acer Predator 28" 4K UHD G-sync display & Asus 28" 4K UHD display
* Msi MPG SEKIRA 100P (Most beautiful mid size pc case ! Looks simple and luxury)
With this hardware you can easily run 4K UHD with 60 fps on the simulator. 55-60 fps are possible when you record in 2560x1440 p60 with MSI Afterburner and your CPU. I have deactivated my second monitor. According to a pilot, this can increases the performance during recording.
This recording was native in 2560x1440 p60 and the fps limit for the application was at 60 fps.
Afterburner setting with the least performance claim is imo MJPG compression in MKV container with minimum 25% quality (still records in 120-250 MBit/s for 4K UHD p30 and in 75-80 MBit/s for 1920x1080 p60).
____ HOW I FOUND THIS ? ____
I'm subscribed to some Japanese FPV pilots. And clearly there is one software feature from a japanese creator very popular at the moment in Japan.
This shows a summary of my flights of my first hours with GlobeXplore and with the BETAFPV LiteRadio3 radio controller (It also works with a PS4 controller). In the video you can see the settings for the LiteRadio3. Use AUTO and move the correct gimbal if you use another version or radio...
____ MY EXPERIENCE WITH GLOBEXPLORE YET ____
I have used GlobeXplore version 1.2.5 and 1.26 in this video.
PROS:
* It is much better than flying the airplane simulator in Google Earth Pro. With a drone you can explore much better/slower. And it's more fun.
CONS:
* This doesn't work for me: Coordinates with a comma I get random spots. Therefore I have to fly from 50, 6 (North Luxembourg) about 10 - 15 minutes to the capital city. With cam angle 60° it has max speed of 200 km/h ? Normally you can copy the coordinates of a map with a right click on Google maps and then just paste it here on GlobeXplore (I saw that from Japanese videos), but somehow that doesn't work for me. Maybe it has something to do with different keyboard systems or something ? There is another guy (i think non japanese) in the chat of the seller page that has same issue than me. So I'm not the only one...
* Gravity low. Falls very slow at zero throttle. Maybe some betaflight setting exist with this kind of behaviour of the quad, but i think that is not the standard behaviour at least for a freestyle ACRO drone... However, it could also be that you perceive it as slower in the 3D maps compared to reality...
* The textures and map don't load very far. Though my hardware probably could. Would be cool if you could increase or decrease the range of texture loading with a slider, adapted to your own hardware...
____ THE GLOBEXPLORE SOFTWARE (WINDOWS & MAC) ___
I give no guarantee for this link that the link or the software is safe or cannot damage the PC !
GlobeXplore:

This is the link to the software. The creator himself says there is no guarantee that this will work in the long term due to changes made by Google... At the moment you pay at least 5 USD to get access.
____ GOOGLE EARTH STUDIO____
If you're only interested in creating beautiful Google Maps 3D videos and don't care about flying the map in real time, Google Earth Studio might be something for you. Higher quality is possible, I think, because the map is more and fully loaded when creating the videos. With this you can theoretically reproduce any kind of drone flight. However, with a significantly higher workload to create it...
____ CLOSING WORDS ____
I can't predict the future. But there will certainly be more 3D maps in the future and better quality (textures and 3D resolution). And of course better computer hardware. I would urge Google to buy up the young Japanese guy's work and implement a quadcopter ACRO mode in the Google Earth Pro.
