This video is the story of Mr. Loeun Lun an immigrant Cambodian who came to the U.S. with his mother when he was an infant. Growing up in Tacoma Washington was tough because of the cultural differences. Mr. Loeun suffered racism and bullying while going to school. Because of this he started looking for protection and got involved in gangs. At the age of 17 Loeun was involved in an altercation that landed him in County Jail for assault. He served 9 months and after his release Loeun got a job and started a family. He got married and had kids.
Unfortunately due to a 1996 anti terrorism act law the US government started deporting immigrants and long term legal residents. Because of Mr. Loeun’s 9 year old crime came back to haunt him. He was arrested while applying for citizenship, taken from his family and deported to Cambodia.
