In Pakistan, as the International Women's Day draws to a close, women are again echoing the march. People are facing back and forth in favor and opposition of this march. When we mention women marches and slogans, we forget about history and its true purpose. March 8 is celebrated every year around the world as a day for women, whose purpose is not protest but celebration.
Until two hundred years ago, women had no rights in the West, and women were considered second-class citizens.
This is why women in the West started the struggle for equal rights; in the year 1906, 15,000 women in the United States started a movement for equal wages, reduced working hours and voting rights, in fact this movement was a form of labor movement. That the exploitation of women on the basis of gender should be abolished. Similarly in Russia, in 1917, women protested and marched for bread and peace, followed by various motivations for equal rights for women in the sixties and seventies. And in view of this, March 8 is the International Women's Day.
Women's march and conflict in Pakistan:
The pro-women march in Pakistan says they have control over their bodies. If this means that they have the right to the marriage of their choice, it is not wrong.
If she says that Allah has given women many freedoms, such as the right to property and the dignity of life, then there should be no objection to it. If anyone says that the way he wants to treat his body, it is so superficial and so stupid that no one will accept it consciously.
In Pakistan, if women talk about equal wages for women in the pro-March country, then, of course, women's privilege in Pakistan, especially in the corporate sector, is higher than that of men, while government jobs provide equal wages. Women like Ms Fatima Jinnah are the active path for Pakistani society, who have participated in the establishment of Pakistan and stability in Pakistan.
If we talk about politics, a total of 171 women candidates participated in the general elections 2018, out of which 105 women candidates contested under the party ticket while 66 participated in the elections as independent candidates.
There are also 60 seats reserved for women in the National Assembly, which is divided by the proportion of representation among the parties that receives more than 5 percent of the vote. The current number of women in the National Assembly is 72. The first woman Prime Minister of the Islamic world, Ms. Benazir Bhutto, was from Pakistan, and no female president was elected in the United States till this day.
From politics to defense of the country, women are seen in all fields.Yes, it is true that women should not get married at an early age. Women should not be tortured - Women are not the property or property of anyone. They should not be portrayed as bleeding. Women are also human beings and they have every right to live.
But why do my body still want my slogans, banners and posters?
One of those slogans, My Body is My Will, is still among the top trends on social media and The reason for this is the debate on the new TV program between Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and Marvi Sarmad. Isn't this all contradicting the history of women march and ground reality in Pakistan?
No society is ready to listen to these slogans and arguments with the family, so why all this and whether it is the media responsible for it all?Neither Marvi Sarhad represents all the women of Pakistan nor every man in society thinks of Khalil-ur-Rehman.
