Chithra is the Founder & Artistic Director of ShruthiUK, based in Birmingham, U.K. She started her company in 2005 with a mission to encourage, educate and train children and young people from various origins to experience South Indian Classical Arts.
She has been instrumental in taking South Indian Classical Dance in the Midlands more accessible through a holistic approach for the mentally & physically challenged children & senior citizens with Autism, Dementia and Alzheimer's.
She also actively engages, educates and empowers socially deprived & underprivileged women & children from ethnic groups to experience Indian dance & encourage a healthy lifestyle.
She shares her broad range of experience in South Indian Classical music & dance, teaching, choreography & performance, gained through her intensive training by her Gurus and has worked as a free lance artist with various art organizations across the U.K.
Chithra is recognised for her exceptional care & holistic methods whilst dealing with people with Dementia, Autism & other health issues- help them to be more confident & provide a therapeutic benefit in their general wellbeing.
She pioneered the British Carnatic Choir- UK's exclusive Carnatic Choir, launched for the first time in 2015. Her vision is to take Carnatic Music to the wider communities & give them an opportunity to engage, learn and experience the music style. - A rich and distinct style of music to be cherished & experienced by all.
She launched the British Carnatic Youth Choirs for schools with a vision to unite Britain through Carnatic music through reinforcing British values in schools.
Chithra is an active supporter of several charities & has raised funds for humanitarian causes for charities in the U.K.
As a Culture and Diversity Ambassador, she aspires to be a role model to youngsters in taking pride of their rich cultural heritage and strive for the sustenance of Indian Classical Arts and Culture in the U.K.
