Our 10 brave PDC middle school theater students tackled 19 roles in a condensed version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. We explored and rehearsed Midsummer just one day a week during the spring semester on Zoom and then filmed it in a day! We fought off the sounds of planes, trains, automobiles, weed wackers, skateboarders, birds, pressure washers, kids, dogs and THE WIND to try to film this movie with a zero budget on an iphone. Because theater students (and teachers) are resilient and determined.
Even though we may have been able to have a small audience for our performance we HAD to film it because some kids played TWO roles in ONE scene and we had to try to do some movie magic to make it work. ;) The 2020-21 school year has been all about flexibility.

The donkey ears and hooves you see in our production were created by Oregon Shakespeare Festival Costume artists. We were lucky to be able to rent from them!
