In response to a request from a viewer, here's my take on how to do a Purdie Shuffle. It's one of those "must know" grooves and while it's quite simple to grasp it can take some time to get it sounding good. I'm still working on it.
You can hear the Purdie Shuffle played on Steely Dan's Home At Last played by the man himself as well as the Dan's Babylon Sisters. Another great example is Jeff Porcaro's version on Toto's Rosanna.
If you'd like some help with your drumming, I offer one-to-one lessons online via Zoom or Skype.
