French President Jacques Chirac protested angrily on Tuesday (22/10) at the tight Israeli security surrounding his walking tour of holy sites in
Jerusalem's Old City, threatening at one point to cut short his stay in Israel over the incident.
Meanwhile tensions on the West Bank have continued to rise with Israeli
soldiers shooting dead a Palestinian on Tuesday near the town of Ramallah.
