One Sunni man walks among hundreds of thousands of Shiite pilgrims in Karabla on the anniversary of imam Hussein. Every year Shiites from around Iraq and the world walk to Karbala to commemorate their fallen imam and this year a Sunni man from Tikrit has joined them because he believes Muslims should be united on such occasions.
He told Rudaw that imam Hussein, who was Prophet Muhammad's grandson and killed by the Islamic caliph of the time in 7th century, was the imam of all Muslim and not just Shiites.
Karbala is a holy site for all Shiites around and it is visited by followers of the faith the year round.
