What: Aliso Canyon OII I.17-01-002 Phase 2 Data and Results Workshop #3
When: Tuesday, July 28, 2020 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Background: Phase 2 of the Aliso Canyon OII presents economic, production cost, and hydraulic modeling to determine the impact of a closure or curtailment of the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility. Phase 3 of this proceeding will focus on evaluating alternatives or mitigations to the constraints identified in Phase 2 to accomplish the goals of the proceeding. A fourth data and results workshop will be scheduled for later this fall to present results from the 1-in-35 extreme peak demand scenario hydraulic modeling as well as additional sensitivity results. A report of the final results from the production cost and hydraulic modeling will be published later in the fall of 2020.
Workshop Purpose and Goals: The purpose of this workshop is to present hydraulic modeling results for the 1-in-10 peak gas demand scenario as well as sensitivities on hydraulic modeling results. This workshop will also present the final production cost modeling results for both the 1-in-10 Unconstrained Gas Scenario and the 1-in-35 Minimum Local Generation scenarios. Results of the 1-in-35 extreme peak hydraulic modeling will follow in a subsequent workshop. Attendees will gain an understanding of the core and electric generation profiles utilized in the 1-in-10 peak demand scenarios, results from the 1-in-10 peak demand modeling, and additional zonal capacity and hydraulic modeling sensitivities performed by staff.
Results will be presented by staff from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and the staff of the Energy Division of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
