"Nujiang 72 Turns": refers to the Yela Mountain winding road with an altitude of 4,618 meters at the pass on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway G318. It passes through the Nujiang River in Baxoi County, Qamdo Prefecture, Tibet. The road is steep and dangerous, and is known as the "Ninety nine U-Turns", Yela Mountain’s “108 Turns”, and “Sichuan-Tibet 99 Turns”. According to some statistics, there are actually more than 130 turns.
"Nujiang 72 Turns" climbs from the lowest point of 3,100 meters above sea level to the highest point of Yela Pass, 4,651 meters above sea level, and then spirals down to Bamda Town, 4,100 meters above sea level. As the only way to pass through the southern Sichuan-Tibet Highway, for many riders or drivers, it is precisely because of its danger that it has more challenging value.
