Heavy rain has led to severe flooding at Non Glacée neighbourhood, Cameroon's commercial city of Douala. The running water carried garbage and plastic containers, whose management has been a major problem in the city and other parts of the country.
The water has completely swamped the main road. It is bad news for some pedestrians but a profit venture for bike riders/city dwellers who took advantage to transport people on their backs across the water at 100FCFA (less than one dollar).
Residents of the area say the gutter construction which was already underway to ease the drainage situation halted, due to alledged embezzlement of the funds for the project.
