Tina Packer is the founder, president, and artistic director of Shakespeare & Co. in Lenox, Massachusetts, which is dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare: the performance of his plentiful plays as well as new works that emulate Shakespeare's social and political focus; the training of actors in classical technique; and the running of educational programs for young people about the resonance of Shakespeare's truths in the everyday world. Packer traces the history of the company and describes her plan to recreate the Rose Playhouse, the great but lost London theatre of Shakespeare's day, in the Berkshires.
