Welcome to episode #5 of Sounds Sick, the format, where we´re gonna present a bunch of cool and/or unusual stuff from our studio!
The videos show the sound that really let´s the amp/gear shine , in our opinion. Wether it´s a jangly clean tone or fuzzy rock sound.
This time we´re presenting the Fender Vaporizer.
The Vaporizer is a 2x10" tube amp from Fender´s "Pawn Shop Series" of amps. Loaded with 2 12ax7s and 2 EL84s.
Quirky little amp, with a cool atomic/space age design.
It is pretty harsh in the room, but if you mic it correctly, you can really get some good sounds out of it! And they most definetly are different! This amp is extremely cold biased, in both the preamp and poweramp, which gives it this weird raunchy fuzzy sound when you drive it.
Signal Chain:
Fender MIM Stratocaster
Fender Vaporizer
Mic´d with a Shure sm57 up close, and a Brauner Phanthera for ambience/room.
