The Vatican Museum Tour is one of the most popular in Rome.
Before the pandemic, visitors to the Vatican topped 6 million each year. While numbers dropped in 2020 and 2021, the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, and other parts of Vatican City are again welcoming millions.
The best advice I can give if you'd like to take a Vatican Museum Tour is to skip the line! You'll pay extra, and you'll have to get there early, but it's worth it.
The "skip the line" tours begin around 8:00am, before the Vatican opens to the public.
By 10:00am, the line to get in snakes out the door of the museum entrance, and around the Vatican complex.
When you skip the line by booking a tour, you'll see the Vatican's art collection, the various Pope-mobiles, and the Sistine Chapel ... long before the general public is allowed inside.
