We are in Krakow, Poland. This is footage of one of Krakow's top attractions among tourists, a horse and carriage ride through the Krakow Old City. The tour starts at the northern end of the Krakow Market Square (Rynek Glowny Grand Square) and costs around 100zl for a 30 minute sightseeing ride. Although the horse carriage driver does not provide any information about the churches, sights and attractions you encounter along the way, the horse carriage ride is a very good way to get a feel of the city before you begin exploring it on foot.
Sights and attractions are mentioned in the footage as we encounter them along the way, and the information includes names of roads, churches, castles etc. Our horse carriage ride begins on the Main Market Square by the "Cloth Hall" (often called the market hall) just infront of the St. Mary's Basilica Church, we then pass the Easter Market, the Leaning Tower of the Town Hall onto Grodzka Street. Grodzka Street is a popular restaurant, shopping and cafe street popular with both tourists and locals alike and this road makes its way all the way down to the Wawel Castle located on the Wawel Hill. Churches we pass along the way down Grodzka Street include the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, St. Andrew’s Church, Church of Saint Bernardino. At the end of Grodzka Street we get our first glimpse of Wawel Castle before turning right onto Świętego Idziego Street. On our way along Świętego Idziego Street we pass the famous Kanonicza Street where Pope John Paul II once lived as a priest and bishop. We then turn right again onto Straszewskiego street riding along next to the park and pass Poselska Street and even the Radisson Blu Hotel. We then turn right onto Franciszkańska Street and pass "The Bishop's Palace in Kraków", called "Pałac Biskupi w Krakowie" in Polish and the church called Klasztor i Bazylika Franciszkanów św. Franciszka z Asyżu. Just after passing the church the road we are riding on chenges name to plac Wszystkich Świętych. We proceed along this road and view "Urząd Miasta Krakowa" (City Council Building), a modern building called "Klubokawiarnia likeKonik" and the Bazylika Trójcy Świętej Church. We then one again turn left back onto Grodzka Street and start heading back towards Rynek Glowny Grand Square where our horse carriage ride began. Just as we enter the city Market Square we see the Church of St. Wojciech. The horse carriage sightseeing tour ends with us passing the "Hard Rock Cafe Krakow" which lies just next to the St. Mary's Basilica Church.
Wiki writes about Krakow, "Kraków (Polish pronunciation: [ˈkrakuf] ( listen)) also Cracow, or Krakow (US English /ˈkrækaʊ/, UK English /ˈkrækɒv/) is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Situated on the Vistula River (Polish: Wisła) in the Lesser Poland region, the city dates back to the 7th century. Kraków has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural, and artistic life and is one of Poland's most important economic hubs. It was the capital of Poland from 1038 to 1569..."
