Puto Biñan is a famous rice cake and originated in Biñan Laguna. This rice cake is big and round like a pizza. The ingredients of a classic flavor puto Biñan consist of rice, lebadura, brown sugar, condensed milk, salted egg and cheese. You have to grind the rice to make a puto and you have to ferment some rice to make as a leavener.
But now some are using all purpose flour or cake flour to make it more easy and they are using baking powder as a leavener. Today we will make it more tasty by adding milk and ube halaya. The recipe itself is very easy to make and delicious.
Classic Puto Binan
1 1/2 cups rice flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup powdered milk(optional)
1 1/2 cups water
1 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp vanilla essence
Toppings:
1 tsp margarine
1/4 cup ube halaya(optional)
3 tbsp condensed milk
1 tbsp salted egg, grated (more if preferred)
1 tbsp cheese, grated (more if preferred)
Ube Puto Binan
1 1/2 cups rice flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup powdered milk
1 1/2 cups water
1 tbsp cooking oil
1/2 tsp violet food color
1/2 tsp ube flavor
1/2 cup, Ube halaya filling(optional)
Toppings:
1 tsp margarine
3 tbsp yema spread
1 tbsp salted egg, grated (more if preferred)
1 tbsp cheese, grated (more if preferred)
