The North Staffordshire Hunt nearly killed at least two foxes earlier in the week, but we were on hand to stop them, along with Manchester Hunt Saboteurs and Staffordshire Hunt Saboteurs.
Huntsman, Rob Jarrett hunted relentlesly, from the meet at Hartwell Stud Farm.
Our sabbing techniques were really put to the test in Stallington Heath, when hounds were on the scent of at least one, but probably two foxes. With sabs on all sides of the wood, a fox eventually broke cover with hounds only metres behind. Sabs however were perfectly placed to use whip, spray and rating to turn the hounds back. After the huntsman took his hounds round and round the wood, trying to pick up the scent again, they eventually gave up and headed off.
No rest for sabs though, as hounds were quickly onto another fox near Mossgate, then not long after we were in the same situation again with hounds right on the tail of a fox in the woods near Spotgate Inn. We surrounded the woods, and again managed to get between fox and hounds just in that last moment before they would have made a kill.
That's at least 2 foxes that only just survived today, and only because sabs had a day off work. Please join your local sab group, or donate if you can, we need your help - www.paypal.me/SheffHuntSaboteurs
