Uranium mining has threatened the region for years. The designation of the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni monument protects the Colorado River watershed, its biodiversity, & resources integral to the Tribes from new uranium mining. We now hope President Biden will work further to mitigate existing threats.
Designations like this are a key step in protecting our most beloved, historic, & culturally important places. As other national monuments are under attack, we're working to defend & protect these incredible treasures for generations to come.
