There is a part one to this video of a likely homeless male on the bus not wearing a face mask probably because he does not have easy access to them to which the bus driver apparently kept harassing him by playing the face mask announcement a bunch of times which angered the guy causing him to experience mental duress yelling profanities and slamming his head repeatedly against the window.
A bunch of people got scared and left the bus in a hurry but the guy did not exhibit any violent behavior against anyone but himself with the head thumping.
Yelling profanities is disrespectful and should not be tolerated but the bus driver was in the wrong as well by harassing the guy about face masks.
TransLink should be ashamed of themselves for instituting face mask mandates unless you have a mask exemption likely knowing that there are many people that use transit that are at or below the poverty line which can make it difficult to purchase masks. Homeless people usually have even less resources and for many purchasing a meal can be difficult ultimately let alone face masks.
Steps should be taken by TransLink to train their employees including the security to be more compassionate and exempt homeless people as well as anyone that that might be financially vulnerable from wearing face masks. TransLink could also supply employees such as drivers, attendants, and security with face coverings to hand out to people for free that want one rather than among other things, engaging in aggressive harassment, intimidation, false police and security calls, unjustly kicking them off the bus and refusing them service, falsely arresting them, and berating them.
Some of these tranit employees bully likely homeless people because they think that they probably don't have the resources to fight for their rights, file a formal complaint against them, record them, or take whatever actions are necessary to hold them accountable.
If we see anybody being harassed or unjustly treated I usually intervene amd start recording so that there is evidence and I would strongly encourage other people to do the same.
If I was not recording that guy probably would have been on the receiving end of police, security or a combination of both brutality and arrested even though he had committed no crime. He was wrong to scream profanities at the driver but that is not a crime nor is it a crime that he banged his head against the window as he only hurt himself and not anyone else.
The African American transit security whose I.D number is 9669 has a history of violating Human Rights and being uninformed about crucial aspects of his job including rights and laws. He is the one along with one of his partners that unlawfully detained and asked a tyrant Vancouver Police to violently pull me off of a bus because he did not understand face mask exemptions which can be seen on a different video that is on this channel.
Police and security are not equipped to deal with a person going through mental duress and often make the situation worse by needlessly escalating when de-escalation should be the primary objective. Police and likely security as well have injured and killed people going through a mental crisis as they don't have the necessary training and usually compassion and patience to talk to the person like a human being rather than a potentially dangerous person.
Most people are usually quick to label a person going through mental duress as dangerous too even though the majority of people that have a mental illness which can be improved and overcome with treatment are nonviolent and have not committed any crimes or been in trouble with the law. It is a stereotype that has been inflated by ignorant people.
If you see someone going through a mental health crisis try to respond with kindness and compassion rather than fear and suspicion.
