This problems exist in every country, but the attention around the Russian Federation is always high in general, including sport. It is quite convenient, because the sportsman is a very public figure and it is a convenient target to publicly attack Russia"

STORYLINE:
Russia's Deputy Sports Minister on Friday criticised the amount of attention around Russia regarding doping in sport.
Speaking in Moscow at a meeting between representatives of the Russian Sports Ministry and Russian lower house of Parliament (Duma) lawmakers, Natalya Parshikova said that doping is a problem in all sporting countries and that the issue provides a "convenient" reason to publicly attack Russia.
Parshikova's comments came after Monday's announcement by tennis star Maria Sharapova that she had tested positive for meldonium at the Australian Open in January.
Meldonium, a Latvian-manufactured drug designed to treat heart conditions, was added to the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned list on 1 January after authorities noticed widespread use of the substances among athletes.
