Like so many miniaturists, diorama builders, scenery modellers and terrain makers, I'm a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
I've spent many hours painting the Games Workshop Lord of the Rings miniatures. I'm not a wargamer, but I love the models. They really appeal to my inner child, and I like just taking them off the shelf to look at them.
But I hardly have any time for painting models nowadays, and when I saw this Barrels Out Of Bond set from Games Workshop, I knew I needed some help.
That's when Darren from We Paint Minis ([ Ссылка ]) got in touch about the possibility of collaborating on a project. What great timing!
Darren did an amazing job on Thorin's Company and some other rare LOTR miniatures I have. This video would not have been possible without him. Please do check out his channel, where he hosts many wonderful miniatures painting guides, including lots for Warhammer 40K.
In this diorama tutorial I'll walk you through my processes for creating an awesome model river (including epoxy resin water effects and rapids and white water effects), how to model rocks, plus how vegetation can elevate your diorama to truly realistic scenery.
I used the following materials in making this diorama:
Wooden craft box
Hot Wire Foam Factory Sculpting Tool
Hot Wire Foam Factory Styrogoo
Extruded polystyrene ([ Ссылка ])
Sculptamold
CFS Water Clear Epoxy Resin
Soudal Fix All Crystal Clear
CFS Isopropanol
Mod Podge Brush Stroke
Deco Mache gloss decoupage glue
Diorama Presepe vegetation
Vallejo Game Washes
Homemade black and brown washes
Citadel Skull White paint
Games Workshop Barrels Out Of Bond miniatures from the Middle-east Strategy Battle Game
Black Gesso
Hacksaw
Sandpaper
Clear Duck Tape
