Here is a common problem I run into as a piano tuner. The pedals can often squeak. There are a number of potential places this can occur and I would be happy to point out some of the other most commons locations if you are interested. Spinning the pedal rod is probably the easiest and can work quite often as a quick fix. This does both work in uprights as well as grands. The grands are much easier to get to the rod, but if you remove the bottom board on an upright, you can easily get to the vertical rod for the pedal.
