From Day Three: Collective-Community Resilience
Lt. Richard Goerling (Ret) shares his story, from Coast Guard Commander and police lieutenant to mindfulness teacher and resilience trainer for first responders. His firsthand experiences with trauma give him keen insight into the challenges those on the front line are dealing with in these times.
In this conversation, he shares:
- How reframing trauma around a growth mindset - rather than a fixed one - provides a positive pathway toward healing
- The value of open cultures that allow first responders - and all communities to speak openly about trauma and deep feelings
- How mindfulness provides a unique opportunity for first responder agencies to transform maladaptive cultures into resilient, healthy agency cultures
