While shopping for a new computer, I was frustrated that I could really only find export speed tests to compare performance with the M1. So I bought one. And I tested it.

This video walks through how each computer can handle different footage from the Sony A7Siii, Canon C70, Canon R5, and a RED camera.

TLDR: The M1 crushes most modern footage without needing proxies. There is a little bit of stutter in playback of 8K clips and with multiple streams of 4K simultaneously, but some of that may be due to the external hard drive's transfer speed.
