This week we have received a lot of interests about the Quails eggs that featured in the Amsterdam Mercedes post, there seemed to be some intrigue around them, how do we cook them, how do we keep them so round, evenly cooked, etc etc.
So we decided to make a film and give you a little tutorial, as you can see its simple and easy, but very effective.
Quails eggs: fantastic little eggs packed full of protein, high in Vitamin B-12 and Iron, they are considered a delicacy in certain parts of the the world, they are readily available in high end supermarkets in Europe and North America, they are normally sold in 6s or 12s, surprisingly inexpensive at 30 cent per egg, appealing to children and fun to eat.
The Poffertjes pan: for those of you who follow the blog and live outside of the Netherlands, the pan is commonly found in Holland and its called a 'poffertjespan' its perfect for this job, for your information a poffertje is a sort of little bitesize pancake that is often eaten in this part of the world, they are bloody delicious!! (they will feature in a later video) you can buy the pan online.
Good luck! and remember low and slow!
