New Ukulele Tutorials every Wednesday and Saturday.
You have to know how to play scales, you simply have to. Why? Becuase a scale is what you use to create melody, it is what you use to improvise, to connect chords, to play fills, scales are the very fabric to the chords that you play, without having scales we wouldn't even have the chords! They are super important, but once you learn them... then what? This is a very common question that I get fairly frequently. With this techniques you will be able to do everything from turn a scale into a melody for a song you've written to play a full 12 bar blues solo that is full of interest and dynamics.
This entire tutorial is based of the A minor pentatonic, here is a tutorial that will walk you through all 5 shapes - [ Ссылка ]
A different way to think about this is to ask yourself the question, how do I make my scale sound more musical? These are the 11 techniques that I came up with for the song.
- Changing Rhythm
- Leaps
- Avoid the 1
- Hit the 1
- Motifs
- 5 Ornamentations (Bend, Slide, Vibrato, Hammer on, Pull Off)
- Let it Breathe
- Repeating Notes
- Double Stops
- Using Full Chord Shapes
- Arpeggios
There are two more that are really important but deserve entire videos because there is a lot of theory behind them and as a result the videos really need an entire tutorial dedicated to them, they are dissonance and resolution and how to build excitement.
