You probably have seen someone with a GPS surveying kit in your life. But what does he do and how it really works?
That is a great question about GPS surveying. GPS surveying is the easy way of land surveying.
Around the world there are many navigation satellites. Those satellites send satellite signals. Based on those satellite signals a GNSS receiver can determine the position.
But that position is not that accurate. That is because there are always obstacles between the satellite and the GNSS receiver.
The biggest obstacle is the athmosphere around the world. But the error that occurs of this obstacle can be corrected.
The correction comes from a base station. A base station is a stationary GNSS receiver.
When the GNSS receiver gets the corrections of the base station than you can GPS survey with centimeter accuracy.
