The University of Lethbridge Faculty Association is officially on strike. At 11 a.m. Thursday faculty hit the picket line after close to two years of bargaining with the U of L’s board of governors. The Faculty Association is seeking a fair settlement that talks about salary and workload inequities. On February 2nd and 3rd the members voted 92% in favor of strike action giving a deadline of 11 o’clock today. Faculty association president Dan O’Donnell says negotiations continued right up until moments before the 11 a.m. deadline.
This of course is difficult for students, who are mid-semester and just about to go into reading week and exams.
According to the U of L’s Board of Governors, “the negotiating team’s goal is to continue to bargain in good faith. Our aim is to arrive at an agreement that is mutually acceptable.”
