WEST PRICE HILL, Ohio (WKRC)- A pizza delivery driver took matters into his own hands to catch three teens he said robbed him at gunpoint.
James Forbis said he should've known better the night he was robbed, but he didn't go with his gut. It happened at the Wyoming Crossing apartments on Aug. 11.
Forbis has been delivering pizzas on and off for the past 20 years to make some extra cash. The call for a delivery to the apartment came in a little after 10 p.m.
"I went in. Knocked on the door, and the lady said she didn't order any pizza," Forbis said.
Forbis left and called the number on the order.
"He's like, 'No, we ordered it.' And he's like, 'We was at the store. We just missed you," Forbis said.
Forbis said they agreed to meet him in the parking lot, but when he beeped his horn no one came out. Against his better judgment, he went inside again.
"As I walked into the building, I was basically looking around and checking to see if anyone was in the hallway," Forbis said.
He didn't see anyone, so he knocked again but then he noticed three people start to come out of the laundry room.
"I'm looking for a weapon to see what I had to do because my first instinct was to slam the door on them," Forbis said.
But he thought, what if he's wrong and it's just some tenants doing laundry?
"One guy got behind me. Stuck a gun to the back of my head. Cocked it right off the bat, pulled the hammer back. I turned and looked at him and stared him dead in his face," Forbis said.
Forbis said he threw down his bag and some cash in his pocket and told them to take it. The robbers also took his keys and then took off. Forbis watched them go into a nearby apartment. He said a woman answered when he knocked on the door.
"And I told her, 'They got my keys. They got everything.' And I said, 'They can keep all that stuff, I just want my keys back,'" Forbis said.
Forbis says the woman told one of the teens in the apartment to go get his keys and the teen did. Forbis left and then called the cops. Three teens were arrested a short time later. The teens, aged 17, 15 and 13 are all charged with aggravated robbery, according to the police report.
