A girl was given a heart-warming surprise when her stepdad announced he was giving her his surname for her 16th birthday.
Molly Bower, 16, of Durham was overcome with emotion when she learned she would be getting her name changed to that of her loving stepfather Walter Patterson.
Mum, Danielle Bower, 36 who is a carer and self-employed joiner Walter, 30, shocked Molly with the official documentation on the morning of August 12.
The family celebrated in the home of Molly’s aunt’s Dominique Bower, a 33-year-old customer service advisor.
