My name is Erin Parish-Gibson. I'm a certified nurse midwife, advanced practice provider within the Department of Family Medicine, specializing in gender health.
The types of patients that I see are primarily folks seeking gender-affirming care, in particular gender-affirming hormone therapy. I also see folks for their reproductive health needs, such as birth control.
Honestly, I didn't expect to love gender-affirming care as much as I do. It's really powerful to watch these folks and assist them in taking control of their lives and their bodies.
Each person's journey is very unique, which makes every day special and exciting and different for me as well.
In my exam rooms there is no judgment, ever. It doesn't matter what deep, dark, secret or embarrassing question somebody has, I'm here for it.
I really like to sit down with folks and learn about who they are, what their needs and their goals are.
We have the privilege of having not just world-class minds at UVA, but world-class hearts.
I really love being a part of that and hopefully making all of the patients feel welcome and cared for.
