Excessive thermal expansion of concrete causes sidewalk to buckle in front of white SUV where round black electrical cover is located. Panels raised up 8" at center of buckle.

NOTES:
Two sidewalk panels & two sidewalk extension panels buckle. Minnesota State Highway 4 - Saint James, MN.

Sidewalk panels measure 6' wide x 5' long x 4" thick. Cracking occurred below contraction joint.
Extension panels measure 3' wide x 5' long x 4" thick. Cracking occurs parallel to center axis of 26" diameter electrical cover, 9" away from contraction joint.

Sidewalk contraction joints cut 1-1/2" deep.

88° Fahrenheit (31° Celsius) at time of buckling June 5, 2021; 2:46 pm. Morning temperature was 70° Fahrenheit.
