How Does a FreeStyle Libre CGM Reader Work?

A CGM reader works by reading the data from your CGM sensor. The sensor is usually placed on the back of your upper arm and sends the data to the reader. The reader then displays your glucose levels in real time.

How Do I Use FreeStyle Libre, Continuous Glucose Monitoring - CGM Device?
Using a CGM device is simple. First, you'll need to attach the sensor to the back of your upper arm. Once the reader is activated you can track your glucose levels in real time.

The first step is to press the Blue Home button to turn the reader on, then hold the reader within 4 inches of your sensor and scan. You can also scan through your clothing.
On scanning, you can see your current glucose levels, a trend arrow, and the last 8 hours of data. The Trend arrow will tell you if your glucose levels are staying steady, going down slowly or going up quickly.

The CGM reader also offers insightful summaries about your glucose history to help you manage your glucose better from the home screen. When you tap the daily graph, you can see daily 24 hour glucose patterns.

Use the bottom arrows to shift through different tastes. Tap OK to return to the main menu. When you tap average glucose, you will be able to see your average glucose levels by time of the day over the last 7, 14, 30, and 90 days.
