At SafetyQuip we provide workplace safety equipment to industry.
Clients often see our hard hats or other forms of
head protection and sometimes ask if we have a bush fire
helmet or a wildfire helmet. The answer is yes, we do!
This product is the 3M Bush Fire Helmet.
It's what we call a high-heat type 3 helmet under
Australian Standard 1801:1997.
You'll notice it's a very robust design.
There's a wide brim.
It's far more robust than a traditional hard hat that we
might use in construction work.
The wide brim provides protection from falling
hot embers.
There's also a neck flap.
The neck flap is made of flame-retardant fabric, again
providing protection from hot embers falling down the
back of the shirt.
You'll notice that there's a chin-strap.
There's also a sweatband up inside the helmet.
There's also a webbing suspension harness inside the
hard hat that provides protection, if you are struck
by falling branches or other objects, there's sort of
suspension protection inside there.
You'll notice there's reflective strips around the hard hat.
That's really useful in low light settings where maybe a
motor vehicle is providing light that might identify
somebody up ahead.
The 3M Bush Fire Helmet. Speak with your
local SafetyQuip branch for further information.
