The UN has heard accounts of sexual violence during the 7 October attacks by Hamas, in a meeting where speakers criticised women's rights activists and UN officials for not doing more to investigate or condemn these crimes.

Israeli officials and frontline workers, senior US politicians and activists spoke at the meeting, organised in part by the former Meta executive Sheryl Sandberg. Hamas denies that its fighters carried out sexual violence against Israelis. Speakers at the meeting urged a 'full and fair' investigation by the UN.
