Should You Buy in 2022?

The Long Dark is hands down my favourite survival game of all time but I can see why some gamers might not agree with me on that. Survival enthusiasts might prefer faster and less methodical mechanics or being given the option to chop down the amazon rainforest with a pen knife just so you can build a monstrous skyscraper made entirely from logs. I love a bit of base building but The Long Dark doesn’t have it and it doesn’t need it.

Gamers that look for a narrative to prop up their reason to survive have got one to enjoy and it's called Wintermute. It frustratingly comes with a caveat though - that being the story is dished out in episodic releases. We’re currently able to play up to episode 4 with the final episode, episode 5, planned for release sometime during 2023.

What’s interesting though is The Long Dark has received some new DLC, Tales from The Far Territory, which has released before the final episode 5. So that's the question - is The Long Dark worth it in 2022?
