Note:
It is difficult to say where exactly a genre begins and end. There are some eras but this timeline is not an ultimatum!
It exists a lot of underground labels which produced some kind of Raw Hardstyle before the "official beginning" as example. And there are still labels which are producing Classic and Nustyle Hardstyle.
This timeline refers to the main festivals like Defqon.1, Qlimax, Q-Base etc. and the music which is played in those eras.
I also didn't mentioned Tekstyle, Subground & Jumpstyle as genre. They also belong to Hardstyle but are very distanced.
