STORYLINE:
Georgian opposition demonstrators took to the streets of Tbilisi on Saturday, two years after riot police used tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons to disperse peaceful demonstrators who called for Saakashvili's ouster.
Opposition supporters and local non-governmental organisations gathered in front of the country's public broadcaster and were expected to march towards the parliament building where they intend to hold a rally.
Most opposition leaders have demanded that President Mikhail Saakashvili resign and have called for early presidential and parliamentary elections.
The 2007 protests during which Saakashvili declared a state of emergency and cracked down on independent media caused great concern among his Western backers and damaged his image as a democratic reformer.
