Becky had a Close-Lock Dislocation of her Right TMJ or TemporoMandibular Joint for over a month. Becky saw Shiatsu massage therapist, a chiropractor and was given strong anti-inflammatories for her dentist but she’s been on able to open for more than 20 mm. This is a special problem for Becky who is a professional opera singer.

When she came in today we first used tongue blades / popsicle sticks to act as a temporary pivotal for several minutes.

A Vapo-Coolant Spray (Ethyl Chloride) was used with spray and strech technique (ala Travell) to block any muscle pain and also utilized a gag responses to unlock the joint.

This was repeated multiple time to gradually unlock the Right TM Joint and we made her a pivotal appliance to wear when she sleeps at night to prevent relocking. She initially locked at night and historically has AM issues.

And she has an Aqualizer Appliance to wear when the pivotal appliances out of her mouth.

End of appointment she could excede 40 mm opening with assist and had full right, left and protrusive movement.

She is seen here with an ULF-TENS unit (Myomonitor) on to further relax the muscles.

She has no pain at this time!
