I took multiple hydrangea cuttings and tried rooting them late in the season to see which one rooted fastest and best. Two varieties rooted well, and one variety had a 100% success with no decay. We got strong plants with just enough time to harden off for winter. Most were green wood or soft wood cuttings, while others were off of last years growth.
