And our journey on the GDT comes to a screeching, but Temporary Halt!! lol! After deciding that the conditions were too unsafe for us to attempt the hardest, most remote, and most rugged part of Section A, we took a Pivot and did some day hiking instead, until we could rejoin our original GDT Itinerary at Castle Ski Resort.

Day 5 saw us on the beautiful Table Mountain in Castle Provincial Park. I had done this trail in 2020 and it rattled me. There is a small section of minor scrambling, that I did not know was there, got off trail and got myself into a state of panic that did not leave me for the rest of the day. I really considered it to be the only trail that had ever gotten the best of me lol! And it had always been on my list to Do Again...to show Table Mountain that it did NOT have the best of me!
So I jumped at the chance of a Re-Do when we found ourselves needing a new plan.

This time was WAY different. 2 Years of confidence and growth made a big difference. Knowing what was coming made a big difference. Knowing to stay on the trail...made a big difference!
I actually REALLY enjoyed Table Mountain this time around. It was a completely different experience for me. I was able to look up from my feet and take in the views. I felt calm, cool and collected.
And the fact that we made it to the Actual Summit of Table Mountain this time was a thrill for me...that was always a regret in the back of my mind, that we never got to the official top in 2020.

I would have to say for me, this was one of my most favourite days on trail. And, happy to say that I never have to do this one Again! haha!!
