What’s this place? ⤵️
This little courtyard is called Arco degli Acetari. It is encircled by medieval houses, which are private properties, but it’s free to enter from early morning until the evening.
It’s called Arco degli Acetari (the arch of the “acetari”), because according to the tradition this used to be one of the deposits of those who were selling water in the market of Campo de’ Fiori.
Not just any water, but a particular water from the north of Rome, the Acqua Acetosa. That’s where the name comes from ☺️
