How very wonderful it feels for a person to be at one such position ! Every organic chemist, or every chemist for that matter - is a genuine admirer of him for sure``
American chemist Karl Barry Sharpless has won the Chemistry Nobel Prize twice. Karl Barry Sharpless was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1941. He received a Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1968 and is a W.M. Keck Professor at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California, in the United States. Soon after starting as an assistant professor at MIT in 1970, he suffered a lab accident in which an NMR tube exploded, leaving him blind in one eye. Sharpless emphasises that "there's simply never an adequate excuse for not wearing safety glasses in the laboratory at all times."
