Per APD: On 2/23/22, Atlanta Police observed a stolen black Dodge Charger with two occupants in Northwest Atlanta. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver fled. At that time, officers requested the assistance of the Air Unit (Phoenix), who responded and gained a visual of the fleeing vehicle. Phoenix maintained surveillance of the suspect vehicle and observed the drivers leave the stolen vehicle at 2805 Macon Dr. From there, the suspects ran on foot towards a nearby apartment complex and tossed several items into the woods, to include a handgun (later confirmed to be stolen), marijuana, and oxycodone. Phoenix was able to relay the actions of the suspects to units on the ground who quickly apprehended both suspects and recovered the abandoned property with assistance of the K9 Unit. Both suspects were charged accordingly.
