I've been playing Another Eden Global for 3 months now and thought I would share my experience. There have been a lot of changes over the past 3 months and I'll go into detail why this free-to-play mobile RPG may be a perfect fit for you.

I was originally looking to replay through Xenogears & in my search Another Eden popped up because it’s writer also wrote for Xenogears & Chrono Trigger. The Persona 5 Collab cemented my interest in the game.
As someone who has been heavily involved with mobile gacha games over the past few years, this game was a pleasant surprise.
All content is available to all players old & new and that includes the free 5* heroes from P5. The gacha system is there, but it’s completely optional. You can beat most of the game’s content with the characters it gives for free and the free heroes are actually viable. In my experience the company is very generous in giving out free gems and heroes. The price to actually buy gems is quite high, somewhat understandably so because this is the only way they make money and they barely ever ask for your money when most gachas are constantly begging you to give them your hard earned cash.
Lately, content has been added on a bi-weekly basis, which can be daunting for new players. But except for hero rate-up banners, everything will be there for when you get it so FOMO levels are at an all time low with this game.
The biggest breath of fresh air for me is that this is a solo-only, story driven game. You can play this as quickly or slow-paced as you would like with no pressure of falling behind. For general play there are absolutely no gates. The only things that require waiting are the special dungeons and some of the side quests.
The story is quite good as to be expected from Masato Kato. I typically skip any story in a gacha game, but I’m glad I played attention to most of the main story. It can get old though and there is no option to skip it. There is a set of side quests for practically every hero and you need to do them in order to unlock their full skillset.
As for gameplay, it is mostly a fairly simple turn-based rpg where each hero can have 3 skills equipped apart from their basic attack. It get more advanced because you have up to 2 heroes in reserves. When in reserves, heroes will restore HP and Mana each turn. When you swap a character back into the frontlines, they will use the Valor Chant skill. For harder fights, party rotation is incredibly important. There is also a Combo Bar with its own set of strategies. HP/MP can be restored for free at town Inns and you will be given a one time use Full HP/MP “Food” everytime you rest at an inn. These items are especially useful for using before bosses or keeping a farming session going. Mana is a heavily used resource, however you can literally farm forever without having to visit an Inn if you utilize the reserve system well to recharge heroes.
The Another Eden community is not the biggest, but it is extremely friendly and helpful. The Reddit and Wiki are a humungous wealth of knowledge. I used them heavily because there is just so many things to do in this game aside from the main story.
My original account with this game had some terrible gacha luck. The odds of getting a 5 star is extremely low. The good news is several heroes can be upgraded to 5* if you have the patience/luck to get the materials required.
I rerolled until I had a more meta start and between that & my knowledge of the game made the experience much easier. The free persona characters & the addition of the XP dungeon also expedited my journey through the story. I spent majority of my early game time running dungeons. If you happen to find yourself stuck in doors with plenty of time to spend on a game, you will probably find yourself with a lack of dungeon keys.
The real game changer is when they released ZONES. These make mono element teams just silly OP and made some difficult content quite trivial for me.
So after about 3 months, I’m in endgame area with lots of great heroes and a huge grind in order to obtain top tier items and defeat the hardest bosses. But I loved it and would do it again. In fact I have already restarted on one account where I can’t spend any gems until I clear the story and I’m constantly rerolling for new accounts that would be interesting to play through.
If you want a really strong start, reroll until you get a Zone hero. Mariel, Hismena, Dunarith, Yuna, or any hero with a manifest weapon will make your journey. If you want a challenge, just make start & run with whatever you get.
So if you’re looking for single player, story-driven RPG that you can play all day long or just a little bit here with a bit of gacha tossed in, I would recommend giving this a try. I’d say just be warned, like many modern games it can be quite the grind at many points and I’m not even gonna go into fishing.
