Here we have another wonderful Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Stratocaster. This one is is a 1954 Relic by Dale Wilson. Now before I start, this instrument has had a new Relic process performed on it and I have to say, having dealt with a fair few original instruments in my time, this is the most authentic looking Relic I have ever seen! It has more of a worn matte finish to it and even up close it is eerily close to an original 1954 Strat! This could fool even the most knowledgeable of vintage folk out there on first inspection.

Plugging it in clean on the bridge pickup, we have what I consider to be the holy grail of Strat tones: the full sound, plenty bright but not piercing, perfect for a lead playing. With drive it is so Stratty but thick, I managed to do a decent Richie Blackmoore impression (sound wise anyway!). The 2nd position is clear and bell like as you might expect, lots of sustain too. I am a huge Albert Lee fan and he uses this position to great effect and it was instant results for this tone! Third and fourth position are pure 50's Strat heaven and the bell-like neck pickup is beautiful! This is an instrument where you really don't need fancy pedals to achieve those classic tones. Again another amazing guitar from Dale Wilson! This is all a Strat should be and with this secret new Relic process you have never been able to get this close to an original piece before! So close to a vintage instrument at a fraction of the price!
