· Rod Tangles
o About that time that you are going to cast but forget you have 4 rods on the back of your kayak and boom you hit them and it gets tangle and you can untangle it quickly, you get mad and pull and boom you break the rod! Yeah True story
· Jet Skis and Jet Skis and Jet Skis did I Mention Jet Skis Jet Skis
o I thought I always like Jet Skis, that’s was until I was fishing the Extreme Kayak Fishing Sailfish Tournament and the just circle around me, this creates wakes, it makes the fish go away and you can flip too if you are not carefully. Plus I feel jetskier are less experience than boaters and may get too close to you.
· WIND!
o This was the number one response on facebook, dozens of people said WIND and with good reason, kayaks are small vessels, relatively weightless and a little wind can push you away easy or make it really hard to paddle against it. There are ways you can fight this, like hiding behind structures, behind mangroves, or between seawals but sometimes there is no structure to hide from, no place to anchor down. Wind is specially bad for recording videos!
· NO Bathroom
o At least some boats have private places you can go and do your business, on a yak!?? Nop you are going to get in the water and go! And it never fails that you have to do this hahaha.
· Hard to maintain position while on the water
o This is the billion dollar question, hard to maintain position, you name it, you can use an expensive powerpole but you will be out hundreds of dollars and remember #1 you will get tangles too with that big spike back there. Powerpole won’t work on every situation. Anchors are also an issue, if too light and it is too windy or heavy current it won’t work. A heavy anchor has its problems because it is heavy! The best solution is to plan ahead, know where you are going to be fishing and how you will be anchoring yourself and have a backup anchor situation.
Many of these issues have solutions but still there are a big headache
